Ticket Pick Up - Dublin/Holyhead?
Hi All,

a Spanish friend of mine is travelling on the cheap to Reading from
Madrid. Via Dublin(!) He's got a ticket for 29 quid from Dublin Ferryport
to Reading, including the ferry.

The problem is, he's in Spain at the moment so having the tickets posted
is a non-starter. Arriva Wales are the train company, and they say he
must collect at a self-service machine. OK, easily done. Neither Dublin
Ferryport or Holyhead are in their list of stations he can pick up
tickets from on the website.

Does anyone know if he'll be allowed on the Ferry with his booking
reference and details, or he'll be able to collect in Holyhead?

I have emailed Arriva asking them, but not hopeful of a reply..

thanks

I cannot imagine any of the suggestions you make, however sensible,
will be possible. We are talking about a TOC here!

I'd suggest the best thing would be to have them sent poste restante
to Dublin (Royal Mail permitting) for him to collect, although there
will be a charge for this.

He can collect in Holyhead from the ticket office. I don't understand
why ATW say he must use a self-service machine - it's not obligatory!

I can't comment regarding access to the ferry.

I think Holyhead booking office has limited opening hours, so they
wouldn't want to give it as a collection option as it may not be an
option at the time of the specific journey.

Anyway going to Holyhead wont help as he needs the ticket to be
avilable from Dublin. Dont fancy your chances of getting on the ferry
with the booking reference. Cant you buy this kind of ticket from the
ferry operator anyway?
