First £1,000 rail fare criticised
The UK's first £1,000 rail ticket has been described as "scandalous"
and "appalling value" by opposition MPs.
The first-class return walk-up fare is from Newquay, in Cornwall to
Kyle of Lochalsh, in the Scottish Highlands.

Presumably Penzance to Wick is cheaper.

It's somewhat ironic that people are quoting Ryanair as the ideal fare
model!!! Irrespective of the quality of service, as usual people fail by
comparing a walk-up fare with an advance purchase.
Later this month I'm flying with Easyjet, booked in early September.
£245 (it's around £300 now, so booking in far advance didn't help
enormously). Not quite £30 though, is it?
