D ring eyelets
I've pulled a D ring eyelet from a leather boot, local cobblers don't seem
to do the repair, so is there anywhere I can buy some for DIY?

If you mean those cobblers who also cut keys and unlock mobiles in
shopping malls then I am not surprised. However, I have found more than
one local cobbler who has been able to replace a d ring. You just have
to go in the back streets a bit more.

Have you asked at your local gear shop? They can usually point you in
the right direction.

Then there are always the online solutions for example:

There used to be a chap in that industrial estate on the right as you go
north from Fort William

Yes, you need to look for the more traditional, old-fashioned cobbler.
I managed to find one in a nearby market town who did a good job quite
cheaply. Have you tried getting the Yellow Pages out and phoning round?

George Fisher in Keswick also did a good job for me some years
previously. In that case they did it for free, as I'd bought the boots
there and the fact that several D-rings came out was fairly clearly a
fault. If I'd asked I'm pretty sure they would have replaced the boots
instead, but they were comfy and I didn't want to have to break them in
again.

Why not get an old pair of boots, drill out the rivet holding one of
the 'D' ring eylets then buy a new rivet, or get your cobbler to rivet
it on for you?

A couple of years back my local cobler riveted back the hooks on a
pair of gaiters for me, for the princley sum of £2, they still work
fine.

I tend to use my local old fashioned cobbler near Nottingham, I belive
alt-berg will do repairs to eyelets http://www.altberg.co.uk/Web/services.jsp
they are based in Richmond, Yorkshire

I am about to get a replacement pair from them as my alt-berg boots
develpped a fault after about 1 year, so it may be worth taking the
boots back if they are not too old.

"Replace D ring or lace hook through lining
first / each additional on same boot
£8.00 /*£4.00"
