Zumo on a Sprint Plan A
RAM ball on an 8mm thread replacing one of the bar riser allen bolts.
Clip mounting bits from Zumo box to that.
Buy Triumph GPS cable kit for Tiger and connect to unused heated grip
socket.
Does it get any simpler/harder? Anything I should know?

PSA
This is as good a place as any to mention Autoroute 2010.
Available, er, soon.
New, improved *and* imports/exports .gpx files. Allegedly.
Review(ish) here plus links for trial version(2Gb+)

http://www.laptopgpsworld.com/microsoft-streets-trips/2709-review-microsoft-autoroute.html

Yes, I'm conversant with Mapsource but this is a Satnav in its own right for
those who were not aware.
I use AR on my netbook for planning while away plus it acts(at a push) as a
backup.

you have to have the ignition switched on to use the satnav. A PITA if you
want to do a bit of route planning whilst having a break from riding,
especially on a recent bike where you cannot turn off the lights.

Good point noted. Won't bother with the Triumph cable then.

The OP said he has a Zumo which has a 4 hour battery life so he doesn't
need the ignition turned on.

I have mine wired to the ignition. When I turn the ignition off a
dialogue box appears on the Zumo asking me if I want it to turn off. If
I want it to stay on I press "No". If I'm happy for the Zumo to be
turned off I don't answer at all, the dialogue box disappears after a
few seconds and the Zumo turns itself off.

<thinks>

that would be true for my 2610. The Zumo might have a battery. Still a PITA
if you forget to tell it to stay powered on once the external supply is
off.

You have to fart about finding the miniscule special screwdriver and
then
try to fit the miniscule end in the miniscule screw.
Just get a WUN screw-o-matic and have done with it.

Of course if you have the Zumo wired independent of the ignition you
can switch it on and have it find the satellites, look at routes and
so on before you start the engine. I find that very handy.

I may well buy a 660. Its battery life is a claimed 6hrs so I guess it
just needs switching on and it will get on with it anyway.

What about security? I guess I ought to have the thing easily removable
as well?

Mine's wired direct to the battery so I don't have these problems. When
I take it out of the cradle I let it switch itself off when it's put in
the case.

Heh, I've been very tempted to get one of those 7 inch touch screen gps
(ebay 120487348076) for sitting on the tank bag.

If you switch off the ignition (e.g. petrol stop) the Zumo will switch
off in 20 seconds unless you tell it not to. I've got mine wired to
the battery via a switch for that reason.

Let me know if you don't have a WUN-Special thumbscrew to replace the

I've never used the lockscrew on mine. What's the point of it because
mine has never undone the clasp in 25,000 miles in the car and about
6,000 on the bike.
