Mitsubishi Colt AMT
Can anyone advise on the reliability of the automatic 1.3 petrol Mitsubishi
Colt (2004 to 2009) ?

We are thinking of getting one but what little reviews from owners exist on
the web some folk say it is great and others go as far as to say it is
dangerous when pulling out of junctions.

Any reasonable advice based on experience of owning one ?

They are terrible. Can't pull skin from warm custard. Can't accelerate
to 56mph in the length of a motorway slip road. Whoever said that they
are dangerous at junctions was on the money.

Never owned one, but I've had several as hire cars. The autobox is truly
awful.

The car is the same as the Smart ForFour, that was rubbish as well.

Are you telling me they are worse than the manual version? Christ ..!
I retook my test in a manual one, it was absolutely awful. Totally
gutless POS.

Oh yes.

Yup, the auto really is worse than that. Get onto a slip road, bury the
pedal into the plugfluff carpet and... nothing happens... at all.. no
still nothing... more nothing...

It's the worst auto car that I've driven, ever and that includes the
antique Astra 1.6 auto that a tried in Germany.

Ask for a test drive. Then you'll understand the comments made.

What are you actually looking for in a car. Looking at a Colt says "not
much" and that you're only interested in fuel economy. Is that right?

Its a 2nd car to get to and from work plus the odd trip out and it is a car
that is available at the right sort of price after scrappage with a cheap 3
yr service plan at £225
