I'd love to be a fly on the wall when she sobers up not remembering turning
herself in and the police explain the situation to her.

Well she was coherent enough to ring the police,
so I assume she wasn't legless and her faculties
would have been reasonable and consequently
would've remembered what she did the following
morning.

She probably was coherent to murder or assualt someone, and was looking
to fabricate an alibi to cover the same period of time.

Well, they all do that in Quincy / Murder She Wrote / Columbo etc ...

You've gotta love Columbo for its sheer implausability.

"How did you know it was me?"

"Well sir , when you walked into the room Fido here went and sat with you.
He doesn't do that with strangers so therefor you must've have known his
owner - the man you murdered! Case closed."

Surely dialling a number and talking is manageable even when very pissed?

I have held 20 minute conversations over the phone with people while drunk
and not remembered it the morning after. Nothing to be proud of but it does
show that she could have woke up not remembering that particular part of the
night.
