Advice required for camping loo and shower
Folks,

Well I have to admit it - we are completely skint and so have no option but to let out our house for
holiday lets this summer. Its near the beach in Cornwall so that shouldn't be a problem.

But here's the thing:

We are going to fence off half of the (large) garden and camp in it for the duration of the summer
hols, approx 6 weeks. We have an outside tap for water but no loo or a shower. My questions concerns
these:

What is the best chemical toilet? Pref one with fairly large capacity so I don't have to empty it
every day. Is it OK to empty these in a public toilet or must you use a special disposal point?

Do the solar showers work in the UK? I mean the type where you just fill up a black bag and let the
sun heat it. If they don't work well here what is the best alternative?

Many thanks - Adam

Consider an earth closet. Simple to construct, odour free, cost free and it
makes good compost.

They stink a bit when you empty them but there's no reason not to use a
public loo. Why not just tip it down the manhole covering the outlet from
your house loo?

Great on a sunny day.

Boil a kettle and put some hot water in it first.

Do you know of any instructions online on how to make an earth closet?

Thanks - Adam

Join a gym, you should get away with paying about £20 per month.

When I was *very* skint a while ago I was ready to sell my house and live at
work, fortunately it never came to that. But remember though, money doesn't
buy you happiness.

Or go to the local leisure centre, which may even be cheaper. Some will
allow runners (for example) to simply use the changing facilities,
including the showers. It's somewhere warm to hide away from the
elements, as well.

It doesn't, but it does help to pay the bills.

Re: Advice required for camping loo and shower
In my experience its bloody difficult to be happy when you are skint.
Especially when you have dependents to worry about.

I wish I was born rich :-)

In my experience its bloody difficult to be happy when you are skint.
Especially when you have dependents to worry about.

I wish I was born rich :-)

Consider an earth closet. Simple to construct, odour free, cost free and it
makes good compost.

They stink a bit when you empty them but there's no reason not to use a
public loo. Why not just tip it down the manhole covering the outlet from
your house loo?

Or go to the local leisure centre, which may even be cheaper. Some will
allow runners (for example) to simply use the changing facilities,
including the showers. It's somewhere warm to hide away from the
elements, as well.

Or go to the local leisure centre, which may even be cheaper. Some will
allow runners (for example) to simply use the changing facilities,
including the showers. It's somewhere warm to hide away from the
elements, as well.

Consider an earth closet. Simple to construct, odour free, cost free and it
makes good compost.

They stink a bit when you empty them but there's no reason not to use a
public loo. Why not just tip it down the manhole covering the outlet from
your house loo?

Join a gym, you should get away with paying about £20 per month.

When I was *very* skint a while ago I was ready to sell my house and live at
work, fortunately it never came to that. But remember though, money doesn't
buy you happiness.

Or go to the local leisure centre, which may even be cheaper. Some will
allow runners (for example) to simply use the changing facilities,
including the showers. It's somewhere warm to hide away from the
elements, as well.

It doesn't, but it does help to pay the bills.

Many thanks....
