CRB enhanced disclosure vs subject access request
Hello,

I'm applying for a teaching job which will require an enhanced CRB check. I
stole a car when I was 20 in 1984, and had a couple of schoolboy type
run-ins with the police prior to that.

I really can't remember the details of the minor stuff (possibly
warning/caution/clipped ear), so I did a subject access request so that I
could provide accurate information on my job application. It shows the
taking of the car, and related criminal damage on the same date, but nothing
more. Is this the same information that an enhanced CRB check will provide?

Thanks for any information.

To whom? The police force that nicked you?

Those were convictions?

Probably yes.

Some of us would be very interested to hear the outcome of your CRB
check and your job application.

Almost certainly. I'm sure if the last time you were in trouble was 25
years ago for minor youth indiscretions, even if some other detail
were disclosed, it won't go against you now in the context of a
teaching job. Indeed, anyone sensible hiring you would probably look
at it as giving you some insight.

I wouldn't describe stealing a car at the age of 20 as a "youthful
indiscretion". It's a serious offence and should have repercussions that
the OP may find hard to shrug off if an enhanced CRB is required.
