Case under the Animals Act
I have come here on a couple of occasions to ask for advice about a
case under the Animals Act 1971 Section 2 - Strict Liability.

I was being sued by an insurance company for liability and negligence
regarding an road accident which happened involving horses which were
not mine and should not have been grazing in my fields - additionally
I was on holiday in the US at the time.

The Claimants sought to establish that I was the keeper of the animals
and in possession of them as I had permitted their owner to house them
in my stables - not graze them.

The case has taken 4.5 years to come to Court and the expense to me
was such that I have been representing myself for the past 18 months.

I am delighted to say that the Judge dismissed the case against me
with full costs from the time I represented myself and interparty
costs before that. I wish they could compensate me for the stress I
have suffered which caused me to have to give up my job - but I am
grateful for small mercies.

Thank you those of you who gave me advice - I am dancing with joy!

Regards

Pat Bryant

Well done. And all credit to you for representing yourself. Presumably you
faced a barrister with all the power that emanates from his wig - what a
humiliation for him/her. :)
