Communications Systems Manager
The University of Cambridge is undergoing significant technological change
to introduce a modern world class suite of voice communications systems
and there is a need for a talented technical manager to take a primary
role in the introduction and operation of these systems. These systems
serve approximately 17,000 users across the University and its Colleges.
The successful applicant will be a good communicator, energetic, highly
technical, and forward thinking. It is expected that the applicant will
have some background in telecommunication systems and/or VoIP technology,
and should have a strong background in the development and maintenance of
various types of servers, e.g. Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows servers. The
role holder will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of various
communications systems, e.g. Cisco Call Manager, voicemail, and call
logging systems and their associated integration, and should have
experience of managing complex projects and team leadership. In addition,
the role holder will be responsible for communicating with numerous
technical and operational support staff across the University, which will
include providing training and guidance on the use of the system and
general procedures.
This is a permanent appointment at Grade 9, subject to a nine months
satisfactory probation period, on a salary scale of £33,779-£42,791 with
initial salary depending on experience. The University offers many
