Age Laws re Interviews
Some weeks ago I went for an interview for another in a sequence of IT
contract posts. Since returning to contracting I have been pleasantly
surprised to find how many over 40's there are out thre, but this
interview was short & superficial to say the least. I left thinking
either she's made her mind up I'm her man or she saw my grey hair from
the other end of the corridor.
Surely this new law allowing us to omit our age from job applicns and
using various ruses in our CVs to hide our age is pointless. All it
will do is waste the time of the employer and the candidate with a
string of unnecessary interviews. Has ANYONE managed to prove age
discrimination on the part of an agency or an employer-direct in their
jobhunting? Proving it when you are safe in a company is hard enough,
what if you don't even work there?!
