"Scientists should be on tap and not on top" Winston Churchill
"Scientists should be on tap and not on top" Winston Churchill -
quoted at Westminster today
Simply amazed and absolutely delighted to see the Conservatives
support the government on firing Dr Nutt.
Nutt's arrogance is simply amazing. He had to go and will take many
who think like him with him. They will want to go and will go with
their customary show of bravado, hoping to curry favour with any new
government.
They know the wheels are falling off British science. Their actions
chopped them off.
BSE was mentioned in the short debate today. It was the Spectre at the
Feast.
I have always believed that the subsequent animal and now human health
disasters visited upon Britain, and now the world, by her corrupt
veterinary scientists was never a party political matter.
Defra's vets thought they were above the rule of law. They were
completely out of control and cost Britain billions: simple crooks who
crawled to the top of the heap unhindered.
Neither of the main parties were either uniquely innocent or uniquely
guilty. Neither controlled the vets, but neither did they have
adequate means of control. The minor parties simply paddled along
disseminating veterinary fabrications to pander to what they hoped
might be supporters' prejudices. They will look the fools that they
are.
It was a structural and constitutional problem. Neglected for
generations - a disaster waiting to happen.
BSE was a terrible warning - ignored by MPs more interested in social
engineering, fiddling their expenses and entry to the House of Lords.
I read Phillips Inquiry. It was obvious then that the enquiry failed
to get the truth out of the amnesia struck vets relying on not being
under oath. The same ones are still occupying the scientific stage.
What now?
Reform. Just make sure it is not revolution. That is not necessary.
