It is linked to the PC full time if required, but I suspect it does a data
dump when the PC is turned on, Few people leave a PC on round the clock.

Its quite fun, and quite educational, to have the display on your desk
whenever you are there. For example its currently 12.3C and 75%RH at
8.00PM. Zero wind and 1015.5mB.
Its going to be quite fun in a storm!

Modern PCs seem to provide power to the USB ports even when switched
off. You have to use the mains switch at the wall to be sure all power
is off.
