Real capitalism and pig disease.
Pat's Notes:
Most of my friends and old business acquaintances know that I'm an
unredeemed Thatcherite.
I did not approve of everything she said or did, but her economic
policies and concept of "letting the market decide" were fundamentally
sound.
It is in strong contrast to a communistic corporate farming - misrule
by oligarchy and their ponces pretending to be businessmen and women.
My fondness for America has more to do with a belief in genuine
capitalism providing better solutions to the world's problems than
most of the other "isms" added together than an admiration for cowboys
and indians - Burkie excepted.
Two brilliant examples of enterprising Canadians using PR to put the
listeria epidemic to good use. Tasteless to British eyes - sure.
Effective - yup.

Meat Recall Expands To Costco
Saskatoon residents notified by phone
Posted August 28, 2008 - 10:35am
For at least one Saskatoon woman it has sure paid off to be a card
carrying member. Jennifer Henry has a Costco membership, and earlier
this week she received a much welcomed phone call. It was an automated
message notifying her of a voluntary recall of Kirkland pastrami.
Henry says the message indicated the product was not on the two lines
affected at the Maple Leaf plant in Toronto.
Costco is pulling its Kirkland Signature meat-and-cheese platters.
At least five deaths are blamed on a listeria outbreak linked to the
major recall by Maple Leaf. The company's Toronto plant remains
closed.
Pat's Note: They told no lies and did not denigrate the competition.
They even more-or-less admitted that some of their stuff was possibly
contaminated. They pointed out the undeniable fact that registered
customers gained an extra safeguard.
What a contrast to the drivel poured out by the MLC and their
subsidiaries at farmers' expense! Experience tells.
I'll bet they did not have some half witted arts graduate with an
inflated ego and title to match produce that.
Now take a look at this one

Golden Griddle Corporation,
Pat's Note: Same thing. Without kicking the competition, they have
reassured potential customers that they have their eye on the health
ball.
Now let's think what would happen in Britain and specifically in
farming.
Everyone, under immense pressure, would hunker down, show proper
Socialist solidarity and say nothing. You are only allowed to attack
innocent foreigners not compete with the less efficient.
In any "normal" capitalist country, any pig farmer without MRSA would
be shouting the fact from the roof tops. He would have taken samples
and got them tested.
Burkie, our resident cowboy, did exactly that in the US. He pesuaded
the universities to do the job against government opposition. Alas
they were too late - MRSA st398 was already there. But he did try and
their status is not in dispute.
Nobody can say their pigs are MRSA free as far as I know, but at least
they had the courage to release the test results..
Briatin despite being the first with mutated PMWS in their pig herds,
does nothing.
Why?
What have they done wrong?
