Accountants
2 quick questions if I may

1) I was told before that if you are a '1 man band' it is best not to
charge the business for use of home as office - say 1/6 of electric /
rent / rates etc - as the house is rented there is no CGC potential -
but what might the other reasons for not doing it be - in the tax
man's viewpoint

2) I've just joined a local small IT firm - none of the local
accountants (including the big local firms) offer IT services beyond
sage advice & install - what might the reasons be for this - conflict
of interest? or.... Could firms become 'resellers' - recommend us to
their clients - and receive say 10% comission on all sales made?
Would accountants be interested in this.

CGT was the reason. HMRC have changed the rules about what can be
claimed.

You can ask them. I think a lot of accountants can't be bothered with
the hassle.
