Late tax return penalty
I have not sent in my 2007 tax return and have received a £100 penalty
notification and payment slip.
Since my income was all paye I do not actually owe anything, if I send in my
2007 return will I still have to pay the £100 penalty?
If not how do I get them to write off the £100 penalty or is this all done
automatically when I send in my return?

You don't. You have the penalty because you decided to ignore all the
warning on TV, in the press and not send in your return. I suggest
you submit it as soon as possible to prevent further penalties.

You are lucky that you don't owe any tax because that will mean the
penalty will be reduced to zero.
It baffles me why you should think that the penalty is some temporary
thing that would always be cancelled once the return is submitted. It
doesn't make sense does it?
