MK4 Golf Rear Demister Not Working
Hi all,

The rear demister has stopped working.
I've also noticed the dash button is orange regardless of whither it's
pushed on or off.

I'm going to check the fuse this weekend, any help/experience would be
much appreciated.

The Golf is a 2000 GTI 1.8T

Thanks again

Sounds like the button has gone? Prise button from the dash and test with a
multimeter.

Re: MK4 Golf Rear Demister Not Working
Thanks,

I've tested the switch and "SEEMS" OK.
Rear demister and heated mirror fuses good too.

I've read that the problem could be defective cabling between the boot
and boot lid so will check that this weekend.

Thanks again.

That would be the next port of call. The right side where the rubber
ribbed gromit pops off easily and with all the opening and shutting of
the boot cll break the wires, a bit of extra wires solder and heatshrink
job done.

Exact same problem on my golf. Once was the switch and second time was
wiring had broken. A known weak spot in many cars from what I read aswell.

Good luck dude

FOrgot to add one other possibility is the the actual rear demister
element in the rear window itself has a broken gap or something, which I
think you can get a fix pen at maplins or ebay to fix. But check the
wiring first is free :) and an easier fix.
