UK Usenet Committee
Quelle surprise. The trouble-making tossers who post to
uk.rec.psycholing are trying to whitewash the committee vote this year.
If you give a damn abut uk usenet it's a good idea to keep an eye on
uk.net.news.announce, and uk.net.news.management.
If anyone can be arsed to overcome the attempted take over nominations
are still open for those who want to stand.
If you think that having a bunch of lycra loons running uk usenet would
be a good thing, think again. These people could start a flamewar in a
convent. Even if they were the only people there.

You may be right, you may be wrong.
But to prove to all on this NG that you are right could you please post
the proof.
If you can manage to do that before 9pm (21:00) it would mean that I
could read it & check it tonight.

I see what you mean:
Applications have now been received from the following:
Jonathan Amery jdamery (at) chiark (dot) greenend (dot) org (dot) uk
David Damerell damerell (at) chiark (dot) greenend (dot) org (dot) uk
Ian Jackson ijackson (at) chiark (dot) greenend (dot) org (dot) uk
At least 2 out of these 3 are members of the mad fascist militant cycling
tendency. I'm not 100% sure about Amery but he also seems to be using Ian
Jackson's mail server.
I assume that people will get to vote against these people from standing.
I damned well hope so!

I'm sure that you can provide a message ID for the post in question. Or
rather I'm sure that you can't since it's entirely a figment of your
imagination.

And again, since all of the above appears to be a figment of your
imagination or a distortion of the truth I'm sure that you won't be
providing any message IDs to support those claims. I'm particularly sure
that you won't because you've been asked repeatedly to support these
claims which you make over and over again and each time that you are
asked to provide proof you run away.

This rather sounds like you doesn't it? ISTR someone asking you to name a
newsgroup where you wern't regarded as a c*nt or a twat. IIRC he asked you
over a dozen times.
In other words "you've been asked repeatedly to support these claims which
you make over and over again and each time that you are asked to provide
proof you run away".

I know little about the UK Usenet Committee, but enough to know that I would
wish to take steps to prevent what you warn of. Is there a "beginner's guide"

The CFV (call for votes) will be published in uk.net.news.announce in
due course. Anyone who wants to vote should subscribe to unna; it's a
low-traffic announcements-only group so it won't overwhelm you with
posts. If anyone also wants to participate in the debate which will
inevitably follow the publication of the CFV then you should also
subscribe to uk.net.news.config, but I'd recommend not doing that just
yet as it's a bit of a flamepit at the best of times :-)

OT: British driving roads
Me and the missus have been talking about holidays next year and I think
we've decided to see a bit of our own country rather than going abroad.
We're hopefully going to do this in a few parts, but one aspect will be a
driving holiday. A rough plan is drive up the West side (possibly via
Wales) as far as Manchester, spend a bit of time in the Peak District (as
neither of us have been there) and drive back down the East (ish) side via
Peterborough.
If all goes to plan it will coincide nicely with ownership of an
'interesting' car so we'll be staying clear of motorways where possible and
chosing the more interesting routes. So, we'll be passing through some of
your back gardens (I think), so I'd like some input into decent driving
roads, either in terms of fun to drive or in terms of amazing scenery
(hopefully mostly with both).
I've driven the Brecon Beacons a few times (including yesterday!) and
wouldn't mind going via the eastern edge if there's anything good there.
Also considered Snowdonia, but I think that'll be too much of a detour into
Wales to be feasible. In the Peaks I'd like to do Snake Pass as that looks
good and I believe it's been mentioned here a few times. But does anyone
know what the Snake Pass Inn is like for B&B. In fact is there any little
B&Bs / campsites out in the middle of no-where you could recommend?
All ideas welcome as we want to start planning now in order to book places
to stay as we have to do it in a school holiday.
Ta

Yes and while you're at it, take a detour through Alderley Edge (the town)
and marvel at how impossibly rich footballers have inflicted their

Heh, I used to live round there as well. We left a few years before

Hmm it never was that much of a sleepy little area, even back then it

Well it's all booked now. We've got 4 days in August just outside Bakewell
in what looks to be a great little B&B. We'll be cruising up via Wales for
a few days and back via bits of the East coast.
Just gotta buy a TVR now :)
