[Status] [info] BT RADIUS issues (at risk)
Posted at 2009-11-04 07:40 GMT by RevK
Update #0: 2009-11-04 07:44 GMT

BT think they may finally have got to the bottom of the RADIUS issues.

These are (a) that they do not see our reply, causing lines to end up
on a default accept far too often, and (b) that the default accept
which should be 10 minutes is in fact permanent.

They are carrying out some tests, very cautiously, with some of our
realms to confirm they have the fix working. If this goes wrong it
could mean people have difficulty connecting for several hours, but
would not mean people get kicked off line. After initial test lines, we
will be trying some of the multiple-line realms, e.g. 2nd line logins
as the next test with BT as an issue with such line would not leave a
customer with 2 lines totally disconnected.

If this all goes well it means we could finally have solved these
annoying BT RADIUS issues. We won't know for sure unless they have
another major outage or major planned works, but they seem to come
along reasonably frequently :-([IMAGE]
