FAST-TRACK of uk.politics.announce-remove
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

FAST TRACK ANNOUNCEMENT uk.politics.announce-remove
=======================

In the procedures established for maintaining the uk.* hierarchy
<http://www.usenet.org.uk/guidelines.html> there are provisions, where
there is a consensus and the proposal is straightforward and
non-controversial, to proceed by the "fast-track" method, so as to avoid
the necessity for holding a full vote.

I have now received a request to fast-track the following proposal:

             remove moderated newsgroup uk.politics.announce

This proposal will be activated no earlier than five days from the posting
of this notice (i.e. not before August 11th), unless there are
objections (of which six or more, or any one which seems to the Committee
to be well founded, shall suffice to halt the process).

Objections should be emailed directly to Control at
.

Objections will be resolved by the committee (committee@usenet.org.uk)

============================================================================

Newsgroup line:
uk.politics.announce	UK political announcements (Moderated)

RATIONALE: remove uk.politics.announce

uk.politics.announce is no longer being used and hasn't been for quite
some time. As far as I can tell the last on topic submission was in
December 2007.

A post to the group on 2nd July asking if it was being used has
received no replies.

Both moderators are now of the view that this group should be removed.

PROPOSAL: uk.politics.announce

That the newsgroup uk.politics.announce be rmgrouped.

END PROPOSAL

CHARTER: uk.politics.announce

uk.politics.announce is be the group for political announcements.
Suitable subjects for postings would include: the announcement of
political meetings, the text of new party policy, the opening of new
political web sites. Discussion of issues raised in
uk.politics.announce should be taken to the specific group within the
uk.politics.* hierarchy for that subject or to uk.politics.misc.
Posters to this group should set their follow up line to the relevant
uk.politics subgroup.

Advertising

Commercial advertising is forbidden.

Cross Posting

Excessive cross posting is inappropriate. Cross posting to other groups
in the uk.politics hierarchy is not permissible.

Binaries

Binaries are not permitted, but directions as to where binaries may be
found are.

END CHARTER

I was unhappy with the proposal to fast-track this removal when it was
first suggested, but I'm satisfied with the answers I received from
the current moderators. Just about everything that could be tried to
revive the group has been tried without success.
