Whats happened to FM radio in the UK ?
I recently took a trip back Up tNorth tother weekend whilst
listening to FM radio in the car.
All the independent local stations have practically disappeared its
either Galaxy, Heart, Smooth, Magic or some other bland semi national
playing more or less the same middle of the road stuff.
Even the pirates in Birmingham were more appealing.
The only one that impressed me was Jack FM in Oxford, which used
automated playout and themed adverts for local businesses.

Many heritage ILRs re-branded to Heart over the last year - where have
you been?!

It's a real pain, and very sad for the radio listener.
Heart 100.7 from Birmingham used to be quite good, whereas the old Severn
Sound (now Heart 102.4 Gloucester) is not. My car radio scans all available
stations in alphabetical order so without reverting to frequency you can't
work out which Heart it is. The same happens on the run in to London where I
think I've got Heart 106.2 and find myself with the truly dire Heart
Berkshire 102.9 (210FM.)
Listened to a fair bit of Radio Jackie when I was in sw London recently and
was very impressed. So good to hear some individuality left in radio.
