Melbourne Cup meeting
As mentioned before, a friend of mine has gone over to the Melbourne Cup.
Given that I've looked through the runners I thought that I'd post them here
for a giggle.
Take each discription with a pinch of salt. I added them from my friends
benefit. Some might be embellished slightly...
10.20am: Whipthebrewer
Ran well in his only start to win by 2 1/2 lengths. The trainer has been
doing well with his 2 year olds.
11.00am: Avienus
Lightly raced horse, and looks to be improving. Being bottom weight should
help.
11.45am: Miss Alia
Big outsider. If she can get over to the rail, she might finished up there.
Maybe a show?
12.30pm: Sensational Toy
2nd twice losing by 1/2 length. Can run anything from 1000m to 1600 (5f to a
mile). Could be a nice price.
1.15pm: Definitely Ready
Won all three runs so far. Quick horse, and will take the beating.
2.00pm: Kanzan
Ran well in last race, and was finishing nicely over a shorter distance. Top
jockey on board (Kerrin McEvoy), and should be up there.
3.00pm: Shocking
Won the Lexus Stakes last Saturday in good style. A step up in class, but
suits the course and distance. Munsef and Changingoftheguard are European
(or ex-European) horses, and could be a good place bet at huge prices.
3.50pm: Sound of Nature
Finished 2nd to Rangirangdoo who ran well in the Victoria Derby on Saturday.
Has run up to 2000m before so the distance should suit him.
4.35pm: Custodian
Won twice this term so far. Step up in class, but seems in form.
5.15pm: Elumino
Possibly needed it's last two run, but performed well in them. Possibly
needs the extra distance this race offers.
So there you go. It might be a load of rubbish, but I do think that Munsef
could be the top "foreign" horse in the Melbourne Cup. And at 45-1 on the
TAB, it might be worth a place bet.

Not sure about the time of the MC
thought it was 4.00 a.m.
Have Mourylan 25s and 16s thought he was so unlucky lto when denied a clear
run several times but ran on when clear, cannot see the trip being a prob and
knowing the race he should be able to get a run in the straight imo Think
I`ve got the horse mis-spelt ? LOL

Went to the front on the turn and stayed on to win in style at $8.80

Shocking ran a great race, even if Matt Chapman was intent on playing down
the quality of the race. Worked his way through the field, and held off the
challenge of Godolphin's Crime Scene in the final furlong. $9.90.

I've received the thanks from my man on the ground. His friends now think
he's some kind of international player who has some inside knowledge about
the horses.
For me, I'd by happy to pick out an 8-1 and 9-1 winner a little more often!
