Sunday supplement
I fancy 3 at Carlisle today.

2:05. KILLYGLEN stands out. Course and distance winner, happy on all
surfaces. 6 pounds clear of his closest rival. Oh, and McCoy on board. 5
points at SP.

Not so sure about the next 2 so just a little interest in each.

1:00. WYMOTT's trainer said he was 'still quite babyish last season'.
Still managed a 1st and a 2nd and his only finish out of the frame was in
the Champions Bumper at Aintree. My only concern is whether he can maintain
his speed over the extra half mile. Oh, and the hurdles, of course. 2
points at SP.

3:15. TOT O'WHISKEY is an ew bet today. I identified him during my
detailed close season research (carried out in the pub one Sunday afternoon)
as a bit of an outsider. He's made the frame in over 50% of his races so,
assuming he hasn't broken down, I expect more of him this season. I
promised to bet on him on his first 3 runs of the season so this is his last
chance. Maybe. 1 pt ew at 16-1.

I think you have that confused with someone other than Phil Bull. Phil Bull
was an advocate for betting on horses that enjoyed/went on the going. He
never said you shouldn't bet on soft or worse going.

I remember Phil Bull in 1957 down on his hands and knees on the turf at
Kempton closely examining the the state of the ground before The
Jubilee. The crowd laughed but Orinthia who had been an unlucky loser at
the Easter meeting won the race.
