If your meaning right now in place of Mowbray i would say yes.But it is not
going to happen so you may as well have said in a straw poll who wants him
and who doesnt really.

When else would I be meaning?

I did say that. Those who would have him back say yes and those who
wouldn't say no. Should I be more complicated to confuse matters?

Well it could mean anytime in the future same way as WS did for instance. If
you added "to replace Mowbray" then i would not have asked.

Like i said above if you had put to replace Mowbray i wouldnt have asked
about time scales or if you just meant generally.I think a fair few of the
Strachan boo boys may have changed their mind but as i said Strachans not
coming back so fairly pointless asking. But thought id answer to try and add
some posts to the dying NG anyway.

Have you ever uttered the phrase "Oh jeese, my mistake."

It was pretty obvious what the question meant - similarly if "to replace Mowbray" was
added on to the end, should "as manager of Celtic Football Club" have been added on
to THAT?

You know just in case someone took the wrong meaning and assumed the question meant
someone was going to kidnap Strachan ("take back") and assimilate the body of Mowbray
with him ("to replace").

For now, I'm happy with Mowbray. Taking Strachan back would cause
instability that "holy willies" suffer from... ;)

Well given that the point of the question was not whether or not he would
come back then it wasn't.
Would you like to win the Euromillions JB? Sorry, pointless question seeing
as it'll never happen...

As pointless as asking if you would like Strachan back now just as he signs
a deal with another club.

Who said anything about "like"? It was a simple question. Five words. Who
would take Strachan back?

Ok if you want to be a pedant, As pointless as asking if you would want
Strachan back now. Just after he signs a deal with another club.

As I said, "Who would take Strachan back?" No mention of the word want or
like. Let me put it another way. You're sitting down to a meal you *must*
eat. It's a plate of dog shit. Someone asks if you'd take a glass of horse
semen as an alternative. You want neither, you like neither and both
options probably make you feel sick to the pit of your stomach but you must
take one. See where I'm coming from?

What a very strange example.Id only take something i wanted, but you carry on
being forced to eat strange things etc.Never been in that situation myself!

Good to see the newsgroup back to the same old nonsense. As I said
before, I'd want/like/take Strachan back in a minute as I never wanted
him to leave. Anyone so disillusioned as to be still wanting to give
Mowbray time when Strachan is still criticised for his poor start needs
their head examined.

With Strachan we were a team who seemed to come back in the second half
if not the last few minutes but Mowbrays team just don't appear to have
any stamina for a whole game.

Mowbray should stop being the Celtic manager at once and become a
Left-back aye left back in England where he came from

I suppose Mowbray accepted less money than Strachan and that is why he
got the job
LetÂ’s face it his football tactics is not up to much
I can see the Celtic board coming out with the begging bowl again asking
the Celtic fans for their money.

Tony Mowbray wouldn't have been my choice as manager but I think he has to
be given a reasonable amount of time considering money was paid to get
him, regarding the original question about Gordon Strachan I think his last
season showed that change was needed for him and Celtic.

So one lost seaon out of 4 and time for change? Wonder if that will be
the comments regarding Mowbray at the end of this season. I believe
things went a bit stale at Celtic in Strachans last year but if he stayed
he would have brought players in who would have made more of an impact
than the ones Mobray has, and also not been so quick to slate the team as
Mowbray has.

In Mowbray's defence it is easier to 'slate' the players of a team that you have
inherited - I'm sure Strachan did similar when he arrived: Something rings a bell
about "having a squad of limited skill" or words to that effect.
IMO most bosses do the same unless they are taking over a great squad where maybe the
previous manager has left under a cloud of success.

There is no excuse - in any profession - for a manager to 'slate' any
member of his team in public. Not only does it demotivate the player in
question but it has a similar effect on the rest who wonder if they'll be
next. There is no defence for Mowbray - he is not ready to manage a club of
Celtic's now diminishing stature.
