I'v been talking about the job I lost with a lot of people on the net, who
also didn't get the job and are mad
When the announcement first came out, I finished the application at about 9
pm Sunday.
The previous job that I lost I had to turn the application 15 in with very
little time to do it. I will in
part blame that for my failure to get the job.
other than the mugging
I took my sweet time doing this one. For the other one, it was open only
about a week, if I remember
correctly, maybe a few days more. but I had to run 140 offices and I
actually kicked
my boss out at 6 pm telling her that i had to work on the application.
This time, I goofed off, read and reread it, rewrote it several times,
thought about,
spot checked, ran and reran the spellchecker.
talked to my office mate back in hila and we worked together and tried to
see if
we could recall things about our career in the past that would help improve
our chances.
talked about buzzwords and supported each other.
I gave her samples she gave me samples
we edited each others stuff
it was good
I hoped she would get the job she has been doing some incredible work over
the last 20 years and deserves this
she's black with a hispanic surname
she's as good as anybody that applies
probably better
when i pushed the button, my application was not rejected. i figured most
everyone would
push the button that night, hedging bets that everyone had lives and that if
someone
beat them to it over the weekend so be it.
anyway, i configured it \and so if it was rejected, i suspected
i won't find out til the morning.
but the process confirmed receipt and there was nothing on other sources
saying that people were getting errors.
incidentally i noticed they had a huge error on their screens and i mean to
tell
them and I did.
i had an appeal ready if i wanted
I did end up appealing because of how broken their online application was
and it did end up rejecting me. My friend lost ot because she didn't make
the deadline because of how ridiculous the process was
they've adjudicated some of our apeals but not fairly or equitably as far as
we can tell

Barney Fife: [Andy and Barney are watching a sign painter] Ain't he got
chicken spelled wrong?
Andy Taylor: No, it's right.
Barney Fife: You sure?
Andy Taylor: Yeah, it's "i before e except after c and e before n in
chicken".
Barney Fife: [chuckles] Oh yeah, I always forget that rule.
