Afghan policeman kills five British soldiers.

We should ask the Afghan PM if the Afghans could name a section of the Uzbek
pipeline after the men, in their memory.

Erratum: For "Uzbek" read "Kazakhstan"....

Here we go - Iraq already. Please can we just leave now?

Questions to be asked:
1. Will staying do any good?
2. Will leaving do any harm?
3. How much harm will the political fallout do to the UK if we do leave?
4. Will militant Islam now bring their war to us in greater strength as
they're no longer fighting us there?
5. How much damage will be done to the UK military if we do leave?

Or - can we win? Probably not - we have catalysed an insurgency as we
did in Iraq - people are still dying in their thousands there, often at
the hands of the Western trained security forces.
Leaving will do some harm - staying will do more harm.
The only way we could ever impose 'peace' in that country is to do as
that Taliban did - no mercy, back up with large numbers of troops.
That's not allowed these days, so we might as well get out now - damage
limitation.

And be prepared to stay there indefinitely in large numbers to keep the
peace and oversee the running of the country.

they sometimes dont even get paid for months... reports of them being
close to starvation as the bent 'kers who control the payrolls have spent
it all...

Unlikely

None - as long as we refrain from invading other countries.

I don't see the Taliban storming the White Cliffs of Dover.

Less than what is happening now.

Define 'win' here.

They didn't see the taliban infiltrating the Afghan police either.
Plus I don't think the taliban need to storm they can simply slip in like
every other illegal immigrant.

Then maybe we better deploy the troops rather closer to home.
