Epic Muhammad movie in pipeline - Dodgy Subject Matter No??
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8337721.stm

"An epic movie about Islam's Prophet Muhammad is in the pipeline, backed by
a producer of the Lord of the Rings.

...

In accordance with Islamic rules, the Prophet cannot be depicted on screen.
Images of the Prophet are considered blasphemous "

****

Errr...???

Do I understand this correctly. They are making a film about an individual,
spending millions of pounds in fact yet the central character cannot be seen
on screen?

Will we just get to see tiny Aisha's head bobbing around with the nefarious
old letch conveniently off screen?

Don't forget all the war lording and massacres, the mocking of Mohammed
by the Jews and Christians and the Koran's special dispensation for him
to have nine wife's rather than the regulation issue four.... RH

Well, quite. Surely the real tale of Islam could not be shown because
it would involve scenes of child abuse, child pornography and incitement
of religious hatred against non-Muslims.

I believe there was once a film about Jesus where they applied this rule
too. Completely daft, as every church in the land, in the world in fact,
has at least one depiction of him.

The destruction of images has a long history in Christendom, from the
iconoclasts of Byzantium onwards. RH
