A Polish man extradited back to Britain was remanded in custody today after
appearing in court in connection with the death of a student in a road
accident in 2007, according to police.
Lukasz Banasik, 22, was flown back from Poland to Biggin Hill airport in
Kent yesterday and arrested by officers from Hampshire police investigating
the death of Gavin Hustler-Brown.
Mr Hustler-Brown, a promising international-standard diver, died after being
struck by a blue Vauxhall Astra as he walked near the Hobbit Pub, in Bevois
Valley Road, Southampton, on April 27, 2007.
The car involved in the alleged incident was later found abandoned in Alma
Road.
Banasik appeared at Southampton Magistrates' Court charged with causing
death by dangerous driving, driving without due care and attention, failing
to stop after an accident, failing to report an accident, driving without
