LOL! - Mr Fry should avoid Usenet at all costs! ;)
Apparently, Stephen became 'depressed' and flounced of Twitter after
someone described his posts as 'boring'....
Someone should seriously warn him to not venture near Usenet, or it
would be wrist cutting time without a doubt!

It certainly gives you a certain respect for everyone on here ;)
Whatever their opinions, people are robust enough to take whatever comes
without bursting into tears.
Mind you, Usenet does seem a bit tame these days, don't you think? -
when compared to a few years ago?
Remember alt.flame.niggers? - now *there* was a newsgroup!! - more blood
and guts on the floor than in a Mayan temple!
Dunno what Stephen would have made of B9-Predator, and his Klan buddies ;)

You heartless bastard - you know I'm not robust so I just burst into
tears :-(
OTOH, I wonder whether I'm a bit sad because I now use the same net
services as I did when I first got access at work in 1992 namely
USENET and email. (Not so much FTP now!) Text email of course. I
think the moment some eejit decided to negate the advanrtage of email
by making it formattable was the day the net stopped being exciting
for me. Full marks to Fry for staying abreast of things even rather
pointless sites such as Twitter and Facebook the primary functions of
which are perfectly well served by email.
Even though I'm not of the Google generation (thank God - nothing
wrong with Yahoo as far as I can see) I'm grateful to them for taking
over Deja News because things tend to die out in cyberspace and my own
ISP no longer carries newsgroups.

Ahhhh - gone, then?
Inevitable, I suppose, in today's PC world (no, not the store ;) - but
for those who can remember it, it was a repository (and often an
extremely funny one) of the freest of free speech ;)
It's quite sobering that people joining Usenet now will have no idea
that such a place ever existed!
Far from being the stereotypical in-bred Hillbilly Racist's, some of the
posters there were the funniest and wittiest people ever to grace Usenet
- and self-evidently well educated.
I wonder where they all went to? (apart from prison & re-education camps ;)

alt.flame.niggers has been "hidden" by google groups but it's still on
usenet, you just have to use a proper usenet account and not a crappy
free one

Now! Now! - He is no politician, that's for sure. He can be quite talented
as an actor. He can be quite funny as a comedian. He can be quite amusing as
a presenter. However, what was that saying? "Jack of all Trades and Master
of None"?? - Seems quite apropos. And as for being homosexual, well, it
seems half the people are that way inclined more or less! So, what of it?
