Haloween: where did all the postings go?
Some newgroups I normally read became noticably quieter from
Thursday through Friday and including Saturday.

Surely Halloween isn't such a big thing nowadays that it has such
a mega influence on postings? (In groups like PC technical or
political ones.)

Maybe I just haven't noticed how much Halloween is now celebrated
in the UK.

Do they celebrate it even more in the US to a point of ignoring
regular newsgroups?

Just a theory but I'd say many computers are switched off because the glow
of the screeens can be seen by the gangs of Moronicanised underclass brats
outside, aka "trick or treaters", thus revealing that someone is at home !
