Lessee. If I remember the events correctly.  Government spies suspect
Davidian church has weapons upon which tax has not been paid. So they
send in the tax collectors to investigate (BATF). They come in
shooting. They shoot women through the roof and and try to kill Koresh
through the door as he tries to get them to cease fire because "women
and children" are inside. Govt. Agents keep shooting until they are
out of ammo. Probably shooting more of themselves than Davidians.
Davidians in Christian move allow the spawn of Satan to withdraw and
collect the wounded and dead. FBI assassination team sets up shop.
Media is moved miles away to give government agents free hand for
"revenge" for RTKBA allowing Davidians to resist being murdered by
their own government. Long siege ensues as government attempts to show
power and kill anyone they can. Eventually plans all come together and
"revenge" for not being allowed to freely kill women and children in
the initial raid is begun by setting the place on fire, and keeping
the women and children IN the fire by armed assault on the rear out of
sight of the media.  The place is burned to the ground. Most of the
Davidians are murdered. All the evidence of crimes is bulldozed and
hauled away.  The BATF raises a battle flag of VICTORY over the place
to prove that they CAN murder anyone they choose and get away with it.
BATF hands out medals to the guilty. The few surviving Davidians are
hauled into court charged with an astounding array of crimes.
Government behavior is court is reprimanded for lies and other
improprieties. Surviving Davidians are acquitted of all crimes except
a minor misdemeanor.  Judge Smith then twists "gun laws" to slam dunk
the acquitted with 20 year sentences to show that RTKBA will NOT be
tolerated in this country even when faced with genocide by officials!

Have I missed anything? Oh yeah. Janet Reno "takes full
responsibility" for the above nightmare and looses ALL credibility as
a public servant and human being.  The bottom line being that the
stink from the whole operation rises to heaven and pretty much insures
that this kind of thing in the future is going to be MUCH better
covered up than it was in this case. So what did the "cold dead hands"
of the martyrs gain?  Well, in truth, if they made some gummint hack
think twice about the next raid on a church to kill women and
children, then they accomplished FAR more than any of the looney-left
here who think that when they come to take you to the camps you should
never resist. I do recall how well that worked out for the German
Jews.  "NEVER AGAIN" is spelled RTKBA!
