Shots Fired at Party with Usher and Nelly
By Mike Fleeman and Anne Marie Cruz

UpdatePosted Saturday August 02, 2008 03:30 PM EDT

Gunfire erupted early Saturday at an Atlanta nightclub party sponsored by
Jermaine Dupri and attended by music stars Usher, Nelly and Sean "Diddy" Combs.
A security guard was reportedly wounded.

"I'm sad this incident happened because it interrupted a beautiful and loving
party. But I'm happy none of my people or friends got hurt. And the party
continues," Dupri tells PEOPLE in a statement.

The shots were fired at about 3:30 a.m. at the party at Dreamz ATL after some
guests were allegedly double-charged by security guards to enter, DeKalb County
police spokesman Marcus Hodge tells WSBTV.

Rowdy guests were escorted outside, where the shooting occurred, Hodge says. A
club security guard was shot in the arm. He was treated at a hospital and
released, Hodge says.

The party also was attended by actresses Gabrielle Union and Regina King and
actor Larenz Tate.

"I didn't hear the shots, but around 3:30 a.m., everybody started ducking,"
party guest Nigel D. of realtalkny.net tells PEOPLE. "Nobody really knew what
happened. It was dark in the club. And everyone was trying to get out of the VIP
area, but there were so many people no one could really move."

An announcement was made that the sound wasn't shots but a bottle popping or a
speaker problem, "But people, including the celebs, were still trying to leave,
so I don't think anyone believed them," he says. "I got outside, and the cops
shut the club down. No one inside could leave and no one outside in the parking
lot could leave either. One of my friends was stuck inside the club and people
were scared that the shooter was still inside."

A Missouri jury has found a 44-year-old man guilty of murder in the
videotaped slaying of a 41-year-old woman.Jurors deliberated for less
than four hours Thursday before finding Richard D. Davis guilty of
first-degree murder in the May 2006 killing of Marsha Spicer.
Prosecutors say Davis and his girlfriend, Dena Riley, videotaped the
slaying to fulfill his violent sexual fantasies. During the trial,
jurors were shown graphic videotape that Davis had made of Spicer's death.

Prosecutors say Davis held Spicer down while his girlfriend smothered
her by sitting on her face. Riley is scheduled to go to trial next year
in that killing.

I post this here just to explain

Man kills, he has killed for all of history, the gun gives victims a
chance to fight back. take away all guns, and man still kills , just the
victims have no chance.

Man has now even used the crotch of his women, to kill another, as in
this story

Why are people posting under the subject line "more American Gun MADNESS"

Why are they not just posting "More Madness" ?

We as civilized law abiding humans need firearms to protect ourself from
the madness, as well as protect ourselves from governments. How many
unarmed citizens were killed by their "own" governments over the last
century ? somewhere around 50,000,000 if I remember right.

I have never read a story anywhere, where a "gun" went mad

In my own area , just over the last couple days, we have had three
knife murders

Why are we not seeing these same "fools" posting about the knife madness ?

Gun madness is hardly unique to the USA. It goes on all around the
world but the media focuses on events in this country. John Lott
pointed out that Germany, often held up by the gun grabbers as a
shining example of a civil society because of strict gun control laws,
has had two mass school shootings with higher death tolls than any
K-12 school shooting in the USA. Few people in this country are even
aware of that fact because that sort of thing is a major story only if
it occurs in the USA. The gun grabbers and their friends in the media
would have us believe that this sort of thing only happens in our
country.

However gun violence is an every day occurrence in the US and its
quite rare in Germany. Were do you feel safer, any town in Germany or
Birmingham, AL?

South Dakota and Washington DC have roughly the same population. South
Dakota residents have easy access to firearms while Washington DC
residents have been barred from that right for the past 30 years.
Where do you feel safer, any town in South Dakota or Washington DC?

Are all gun-nuts as stump-stupid as you are?

If you crammed all the people of South Dakota into a space as small
as Wash D.C., do you think crime would go up or down?

If you dispersed all the resident of D.C. across the plains and hills of South
Dakota,
do you think crime would go down or up?

Did your mother have any children that lived, who weren't retarded?

Really?

So how much Gun Crime would there be if there were no guns?

Oh, now I get it. Other factors contribute to homicide rates other
than whether or not citizens have the right to bear arms. So why do
you gun grabbers point to lower homicide rates in countries such as
Germany as if that establishes some sort of cause-and-effect
relationship between gun laws and gun deaths?

Man you just solved the crime problem,, limit how many people per square
mile, The whole crime problem is people not liking anyone close to them,
every human that has to live close to another, gets this uncontrollable
urge to rape, maim, steal, murder, do and sell drugs.

Next you will tell us it's because the Sun goes down hours earlier in
D.C., and it's too early for them to go in bed , so they engage in turf
wars for fun, until it gets late enough for them to need their sleep.

yep those people out west are so tuckered out by the time the Sun goes
down, they are just too tired for crime.

It could not be because their victims are defenseless in D.C. That the
criminals have no fear of their victims in D.C. ?

That they can brake down any door they please with no fear from the
occupants.

They Banned firearms in D.C. to reduce murder, and the rates went up ?

Now you answer why that is ?

Murder rates didn't rise significantly until about 12 years after the 1976
ban. In fact the average murder rate for the 11 years after the ban was
less than the average murder rate for the 7 years before the ban, and the
difference is statistically significant.

> Now you answer why that is ?

The murder rate also went up before the ban. About 7 years before the ban it
became relatively stable then dropped a little after the ban - why was that?
If there is some connection between the gun ban and murder rate, why did it
take 12 years to show itself?

Oh I did

But how much crime would there be after all the gun crime was gone, how
much would the murder and rape cases increase ? take all the victims of
murder, rape, robbery, car jacking, kidnapping, home invasion, and make
them totally at the mercy of their attackers.

There are some who have no two brain cells that talk top each other ,
that think a tool is the rout of all evil , when evil was there
thousands of years before the tool.

You think by just taking away a single tool, that criminals will stop
what they are doing, are you really that stupid ? of course you are, why
did I even ask

HELLO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Because 35,000 handguns were registered, and grand fathered in

Because the criminals could not believe every citizen registered their
guns, they sure didn't, and didn't think the majority of the people would

It took time for them to realize the streets belonged to them.

Now the big question are we talking homicide rates or murder rates ? or
were these two swapped, homicide rates before the ban, murder rates
after the ban ?

I know for a fact, that in only one year since the enactment of the ban
was there a lower murder rate, all other years it has been higher after
the ban.

Now another question, how has the over all violent crime rates responded

Only because piss-pant cowards like you can even conceive of
defending yourself without a gun ... while MILLIONS of other
people manage to do that every year.

It's not hard to figure that out. After the ban was passed. residents
of DC still had guns purchased prior to the ban. As time passed, new
residents could not purchase guns legally so the percentage of law
abiding citizens who still had them means to defend themselves
gradually declined and criminals increasingly got the upper hand. DC
became a very safe city for criminals to work in.
(Congressmen liked that too).

When I was 21 I had earned a Black Belt in karate, it took me 4 years to
get there. Karate is worthless against a gun, unlike what you see on TV
and you are stupid enough to believe. It's not preferred against
someone who knows what they are doing with a baseball bat, club,
machete, Ax, or many other weapons . It takes years to get good enough
with karate to even have a chance against such weapons. Pull out a
handgun, and the threat is over, no one has to die. If I was fighting
someone by hand who was using any of these weapons, I would have to kill
them quickly to end the threat

What about that 105 lb women, does she stand a chance against a 230 lb
rapist ? Did my wife stand a chance against 4 of them? she did with
that 357 mag. in her hands, what would your wife or daughter do in that
case ?

Pray they did not kill her, after they raped her, that is all she could do.

I and mine will be called cowards by you, I could care less what you
call me, I walk the streets with no fear of anyone.

My wife was not raped, nor was she killed, because she had the right of
self defense, and knew how to use it.

How did the streets belong to them? What evidence do you have to support
your claim about what the criminals thought? How does your "theory" explain
the rise that occurred from 1964 to 1968? How does it explain that the
murder rate was lower for 12 years?

> Now the big question are we talking homicide rates or murder rates ? or

Murder rates as listed at
http://www.disastercenter.com/crime/dccrime.htm
which claim to be based on FBI UCR data.

A lower murder rate than what - what numbers are you comparing?

Where does evidence for your claim come from?
The site above shows the average of the 7 years before the 1976 ban was
34.6. The average for the 12 years after the ban was 29.9.

No doubt you wouldn't use a fire extinquisher against a kitchen fire
either... since millions don't.

Check the FBI/DOJ statistics, they say the best way to avoid being killed in
confrontational crime is to be armed.

Why is that you want to even the odds with criminal predators? You on their
side?

avoid the confrontation in the first place you pig-ignorant Neanderthal.

Once again, check the FBI/DOJ stats and see who is safer, the victim who
cowers and begs for mercy or the one who is armed and demands to be left
alone. Check and see for yourself.

as for fear, I sleep well knowing I have options.
And you? It seems you are terrified that people like me are armed.

Please tell us how "you" avoid this, and is your way fool proof, so
their is a zero chance of it failing.

What if you come up on someone else being killed ? what do "YOU" do ?

In todays World, there is no 100% sure fire way to avoid any and every
confrontation. Not if you don't live in a Fort Nox, and you never go out
of it.

(I know a man who just went to get his hair cut , he was in the barber
chair when two armed men came in and robbed it, and robbed all inside
it. They had them all on the floor when one of the robbers said to the
other one, "we can't have any "live" witnesses, the other one yelled,
you guys know Jesus ? Your about to meet him. This man rolled over on
the floor pulling out a little 2 shot 22 mag. derringer, and fired the
two shots striking both robbers in the head, killing them both.)

If it had been you in this barber shop, instead of him, all would have
been killed.
>
>
>> Why is that you want to even the odds with criminal predators? You on

>
> You live in perpetual fear, don't you coward?

I have no fear at all, I'm not constantly looking around for someone who
might harm me or , my family. Like it has been stated here, a handgun is
just like a fire extinguisher, when you carry one in your car or boat,
you have no perpetual fear of them catching fire, if by the very slim
chance it does, your ready. You avoid, every way you can, of a fire
happening, as you never want to use that fire extinguisher. If your
lucky, you never will have to use it, but you would be a fool not to
have one, What if "you" come up on someone else's car on fire, and they
are trapped inside it ?

I fear a person like you would just keep driving, dialing 911, too
afraid of the fire .

Of course this is was an analogy,

what would you do if you see a women, being dragged screaming into a
car, yelling for help ?

I'm sure you would dial 911

I would stop it, then dial 911

Which would give the women a better chance of living ?

The crimminal picks the time and place for the confrontation, making it
difficult to avoid at time. Your only option is to be able to provide a more
aggressive defend so he picks a softer target. Which means he would go
after someone who is not armed and a softer target..
Thinking you can past a law to remove guns will end killing is living in a
dream world. As long as there are criminals out there one of them will
provide a gun to the others as long as he can make a dollar. Thinking you
can avoid confrontatonal situations is totally unrealistic, at some point
something is going to happen to put you at risk, unless you live in total
isolation and that in itself puts you at risk.

The problem with the people who think taking away the guns will solve the
