=> Gun-Nut with Assault Rifle opens fire on Kids swimming, killing 3 ! <= neverending American Gun MADNESS !!
Man arrested in river ambush on 3 Wis. swimmers
By DINESH RAMDE – 1 hour ago

NIAGARA, Wis. (AP) — A dragnet ended Friday with the arrest of a man accused of
emerging from woods in camouflage and opening fire with an assault rifle on a
group of young swimmers who had gathered at a river. Three were killed and
another wounded.

Scott J. Johnson, 38, was in camouflage as he walked out of some woods near the
scene of the shooting and dropped his weapon as officers approached, said Jerry
Sauve, chief's sheriff's deputy in Marinette County.

Johnson, from the nearby town of Iron Mountain, Mich., had not been formally
charged and it was not immediately known whether he had an attorney.

"We believe he was in the woods and near our officers who were also in the woods
all night," Sauve said at a news conference.

The motive remained unclear, Sauve said. Johnson was taken to jail to await an
initial court appearance that was not immediately scheduled.

More than 100 law enforcement officers from at least 10 agencies were called in
to hunt for the gunman in Thursday's attack. Authorities had set up roadblocks
and evacuated some homes in the northern Wisconsin area just across the state
line from Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

Marinette County Sheriff Jim Kanikula said there was no communication between
the gunman and his victims. The shooter was only 7 to 10 feet away from one
victim when he fired on the group of nine young people who had gathered near a
railroad bridge on the Menominee River, he said.

"There's a saying up here that this is a great place to raise kids," said Randy
Van Gasse, the school superintendent in nearby Norway, Mich., where 17-year-old
victim Tiffany Pohlson would have been a senior in the fall.

"That's been violated and we don't know why," he said. "This is obviously a
shock to everybody."

The other dead were identified as Anthony Spigarelli, 18; and Bryan Mort, 19. A
fourth victim, 20-year-old Daniel Louis Gordon, was wounded. All were also from
Michigan.

Niagara is about 210 miles north of Milwaukee.

As soon as I saw this story on the msn server, I knew it was just a
matter of time before some anti-gun rights zealot would be posting it
on this forum. Not surprisingly, we have had several postings about
it. The gun grabbers seem to want to crawl over each other to post
these tragedies. My question for the is this. WHAT IS THE POINT?
Nobody is disputing that there are evil people in this world. There
are people who use firearms to commit attrocities. Likewise, there are
people who use cars recklessly and irresponsibly and destroy people's
lives. Does anyone argue that the rest of us should not be able to
drive because there are a few who cannot handle the responsibility of
getting behind the wheel. So why should the tens of millions of
responsible and law abiding gun owners have their right to keep and
bear arms because a very small percentage of gun owners who use their
weapons to destroy lives. Why is it you ghouls can't even wait until
the bodies are cold before you try to exploit these tragedies for
political gain? Have you no sense of decency?

Sadly, we have always had evil people in this world and we always
will. They are going to do despicable things to other human beings for
reasons that exist only in their twisted minds. No government policy
is ever going to change that. It is truly sad that three young people
lost their lives in such a senseless manner. It is also sad that there
are folks out there who try to exploit such tragedies.

Due to the restrictive gun laws of that area, none of the nine had a
firearm to defend the group

Two men tried to rob the owner of a Crawfordville business earlier this
week, but the owner pulled out his gun and scared the would-be robbers away.

It happened about 7:45 p.m. Saturday at Premier Motorcar Gallery, 1468
Crawfordville Highway, according to the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office.

The owner was exiting the front door of the business carrying a small
bank bag and had turned around to lock it when one of the men ran up and
hit him in the head with a 2-by-6 board.

The owner fell to the ground but was able to get a handgun out of his
rear waistband and point it at the robber. Another man was running
toward them, but the two turned around and ran to a waiting car when
they saw the owner was armed.

The car was described as brown in color, 1984-1986, four-door Chevy
Caprice with a lift-kit similar to the photo to the right. The car had
22- to 24-inch chrome rims with wide white walls and an aftermarket
chrome grill kit.

The first would-be robber was described as a clean-shaven black man,
18-22 years old, 6 feet, with a thin build and short hair. He had a
small notch shaved into his right eyebrow. He was wearing a long-sleeved
blue FUBU shirt and Paco jeans.

Only a vague description was available for the second would-be robber.
Anyone with information can call Sgt. Scott DelBeato at 926-0878.

Based upon this information, none of the nine was probably old enough to own
a handgun, concealed or otherwise. Bringing a long gun swimming? Would you?
