I'd already had to give up my .22 target rifle by then due to the
requirements of keeping it in a screwed to the wall steel box. When
guns were freely available the only ones locked up were the valuable
ones.
The point is that now we are only permitted to have a gun if we have
good reason and a none elected official agrees. I want to reverse that
so we can have a gun and the none elected official has to show in
court why he believes someone is not a fit person to own one. The
only reasons I would accept would be the owner had convictions for
serious acts of violence or was a certifiable loony.

I don't have a problem with that.
I think most dangerous weapons should be secured when not being used or
being maintained.
I'm prepared to make an exception for things like bread knives but stuff
like sharp swords clipped to a wall gives me the horrors.
I've seen one too many accidents with people fooling about with stuff like
that.
