	Well you ask 1st and if that don't work, you tell them to do it,
anyway they understand....

	Most Brits had no love for guns, they found a better life driving
all over the place on M/Cycles, they are very weavy in out of traffic,
sidewalks, and they forgot about guns till a couple of years ago.

	Too many Brit Cops were shooting themselves on maneuvers, and they
got disarmed here and there, with a selected few who carry and their "Swat"
teams.

	In Kaynuhduh, we don;t need 911 and Die episodes all over, nor do we
need gungrabbers picking on legal gun owners, were the cops should be
solving crimes since that is what they are supposed to do, unfortunately,
they aren't too good at that either.......

No, not at all. What I am questioning is the fact that there are no other 
races seen in that video. Since England is nearly as "pluralistic" as the 
U.S., it begs the question; Is English culture, "white culture"? Is that 
part of what is being said there? In other words, there is a reason for 
this, and I wonder what it is. Try to stay on topic, and don't go off on a 
knee-jerk tirade about race-baiting. That is WEAK! You say far more about 
yourself with that than you do about me. (Let me guess, we don't need to 
know the answer to such questions?)

the crowds in those protest marches are all white. Does it not mean 
something that in a society that is populated by large percentages of 
"people of color" that vitually none are present at the protest?

I think you need to understand something of the nature of English society. 
In the UK, guns were (by and large) owned by people who owned large tracts 
of land. They were primarily for hunting, and there was a lot of tradition 
associated with hunting going back a lot of years. Black people haven't been 
in the UK that long (as land holders), and probably don't care that much 
about gun ownership.

Also, you are looking at a news photograph, not a demographically doctored 
McDonalds photo shoot.

They don't have to tick all of the racial boxes in real life...

Exactly the kind of information I was looking for. It's good to see that at 
least someone is still a free and critical thinker. I suspect there is more 
to the story though. For instance, I think target handgunning was pretty big 
over there before the ban, no? There were a few target autos in just the 
minimal clips showing the turned in guns.

No firearms certificates for 'self defence' have been issued on the UK 
mainland for over half a century.

The protest was in London but was attended by people from throughout the UK. 
The protest was mainly against the Labour government's ban on using hounds 
for foxhunting. It had very little to do with firearms and their ownership. 
As with most things in Britain it was divided very much along social lines. 
The people in the towns tend to be mainly working class poor and vote Labour 
whilst those who live in the countryside tend to be more well off and vote 
Conservative.

Did you see a video where ALL of the marchers were shown ?
Could it be that the large portion of the marchers ma have contained some 
non-whites ?

travel to France to practice shooting... because they aren't allowed to at

All firearms are licensed in the UK, and have been for many years.

If you wish to purchase a firearm you must acquire a certificate from your 
local chief officer of police.

These days the certificates are quite expensive and take a month or so to 
arrive and involve considerable checking of the individual concerned on the 
various police databases and you must also sign a medical release allowing 
your medical records to be checked.

You must also have a secure container of an approved design installed in 
your home.

There is no significant political opposition to this.

Not even from the various 'shooters rights' organisations.

Some certificates for the ownership of firearms were issued for 'self 
defence' but the Churchill government stopped this in 1952 for the UK 
mainland.

At the time nobody seems to have noticed.

So,  logically,  nobody cared...

But then they are rejected since none have been issued in 50 years.

My wife has a pen pal who is near quadriplegic (in a chair with
some minimal use of his hands/arms) yet when they returned
home to surprise a burglar in the house they were seriously
FRIGHTENED to HOLD the buglar until the police arrived.

Seems that would be "false imprisonment" or some British
equivalent.

Succinctly:

Guy in wheel chair is afraid to keep burglar locked in bathroom
until police arrive a few minutes later.

I have no idea.

I was informed ,  by letter,  that all certificates for pistols were being 
withdrawn at a certain date and that I should dispose of the weapons and 
ammunition.

And that if I didn't they should be handed in at my local police station and 
compensation would be paid in due course.

My understanding is that when they did pay up for any weapons handed in they 
paid about 10% over market price.

I do know that I got more than I paid for my pistols,  which I believe went 
to France and Germany,  but I've no proof.

The international market for target pistols (the only pistols that had been 
allowed in the UK for many eyars) is small and the numbers released into the 
world market by the UK ban were probably insignificant.

I wonder if they lied to people back then and told them they weren't going 
to lose their guns?

That's what they say here now - "This is just registration, not 
confiscation."

Like they want to return your stolen gun if it's recovered at a crime scene.

We keep trying to explain this to people who tell us "reasonable
gun control" is, well, REASONABLE.

It isn't.  Gun control, especially registration and licensing, leads
inexorably to confiscation.

As the whole process started after a series of terrorist attacks in London 
using auto-loading pistols I doubt there was much oposition.

A "lefty"? Far from that, I am probably to the right of guys like Michael 
Savage, who says that "liberalism is a mental disorder", (and I haven't 
mentioned gender, or class). I mentioned race because I hoped to have an 
intelligent discussion based on facts. One fact is: There are no "people of 
color" in those video clips about that protest. What I was interested in, 
was whether or not people who are not white care about this issue, or if 
they do care and don't feel comfortable about being in that crowd for some 
unknown reason. Or, is there something at work in the U.K. that makes the 
white majority blame the ethnic minority for it's ills, thereby diminishing 
the chance of incorporating them in their fight? Just something I found 
interesting, and all I got was name-calling and projection from a bunch of 
psuedo-intellectuals like yourself. Lines like the one above, "At the 
protest, or in the video?" are childish at best, and pre-suppose a knowledge 
that is unlikely to be had on either side of this "discussion". A line like 
that is an attempt to remove the discussion from it's original topic, 
because those who are compelled to answer are compelled by fear, and not a 
sentient curiosity. I'll leave you guys to gloat about having thwarted a 
racist overture. I'm sure you'll feel better, and you won't have to move out 
of your ignorant P.C. comfort zone.
