It's simple enough. They just excluded candidates one by one to ensure 
that the winner had an overall majority of the votes.

Because of the Scottish Parliament's slightly ignorant debates on STV they 
adopted a method which requires utterly pointless stages of counts. The 
last stage in this election is pointless because the SNP candidate has 
attained more votes at stage 5 than the remaining candidates have together 
so there is no point in conducting stage 6 as it cannot change the outcome 
of the election.
