Petition Closing Soon!
Anyone here who feels as many in the country do, that Gordon Brown's
gross financial incompetence means that he should resign, are asked
(indeed, recommended) to sign the following petition:
http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/Fianance/
(Don't blame me for the spelling!)
...before the closing date of 15 January 2009, just five days from now.

Well I would recommend exactly the opposite as everybody I know thinks that
under the circumstances the government is doing a great job. In fact most
of the countries in the free world are taking very similar action.

What, bankrupting large sections of their industry and populations over a
period of years in which their main policy is: "Borrow, borrow, borrow,
borrow and never worry about paying it back"?
One assumes you type your messages instead of writing them because you're not
allowed anything sharp in there?

Funny. Virtually everyone who knows anything about the subject is with
me. Fortunately, I too know about the subject, having worked in central
government finance (within the DTI, for example) and clearly having
several quintillion times the knowledge of it than anyone who could ever
claim that Gordon Brown and his motley crew are "doing a great job".

While not being a supporter of the Government I don't see that large
sections of industry or the population were bankrupted prior to this
crash. Which started due to greed and incompetence in USA banking
institutions which spread to here. If there is blame its the lack of
state control and regulation, fostered by the previous Tory governments
who took their lead from the Regan Administration in the USA and
deregulated the banking sector. What was the alternative to borrowing?
As yet the only difference I can see between Labour and the Tories on
this is one of rhetoric.

I never said that. Labour is equally at fault for not reversing her
deregulation and agreeing with the culture of greed that she encouraged.
I note that you don't engage with the argument.

But Mr. Ward it is obvious from your website and writings that you are you
are a political obsessive and supporter of the Conservative Party so you
would criticize Mr. Brown. However I disagree. The past ten years have
seen desperately needed improvements to the public services where I live and
none of my neighbours, in the Portsmouth area, are showing signs of being
poorer. I do occasionally meet some of the usual miseries who read the
Daily Mail that blame everything wrong in their sad lives on the Government
but I have not yet met an individual who thinks that Mr. Brown is
responsible for this world wide recession. I have no need to tell you,
because I am convinced you must know, that unemployment in most of Europe
the USA and Japan is far worse than in Britain. Will you blame Mr. Brown
for that?
I do not suppose that our Government is sure that the action they are taking
is going to work. Who does? But they certainly seem to be trying their best.
I am also sure that if we had a Conservative administration it would be
taking similar steps.

Oh, well: let's try to deduce something from this mess. Typical Labour
supporter: can't even format (or be bothered to format) postings in a
readable fashion. Anyway...
My "ears and ears" in the Portsmouth area (resident in Southsea but
working all around the broader area) does not agree, as is in fact
strongly behind me, as are most people in Britain today in their
judgement of Brown. They do not believe the long-discredited official
figures on employment or anything else any more than I do, which is why
I publicise the more accurate figures on my 'blog, sourced from those
who do know something about their subject.
There are three types of pro-Labour people:
1. Communists;
2. Communist supporters;
3. Those too thick to realise they are being conned.
There are NO OTHERS, anywhere on Planet Earth.
Once upon a time, there were also those who thought they could make the
party better, from being on the inside. That has long been impossible,
so that category no longer exists. No-one decent, with integrity and
honesty, and mentally competent, would support Labour, and that is now
for ever: it can never change. It has been a one-way street, with no
way back.
Oh, and as we all know, coming from the mouth of Stalin himslef (and he
would have known a bit about it) "Socialism is the everyday word for
Communism." In order words, all so-called "socialists" are in reality
Communists. I have that quote on a video on my 'blog as well...

Well Mr. Ward, I am not a communist or communist supporter so as I am
'pro-Labour' I must fall into your third category and am apparently thick
and the subject of confidence trickery. I am not too sure of the protocols
ruling on this newsgroup but does this mean I am now free to insult you? If
so I assure you I do know some insults but unlike you, a pro-Conservative, I
do not insult people who disagree with me as a matter of course. No wonder
the Tories are known as the 'nasty party'.

Wow! The people there are obviously so pleased with Labour that they
have one Lab/Co-Op MP and one LibDem MP. The council has a whole
*two* Labour councillors among dozens of Conservative and LibDem
members, even after all this time -- and it is the council that has the
more direct contact with people on the ground than any MP.
Interesting... (and more on-topic here as it concerns electoral
results!)
