It currently isn't legal -- how is that working out?

Legalizing has these advantages:  Easier to keep away from children, easier to
regulate and have required labeling, easier to collect tax revenue, keeps
people away from the criminal market.

Cannabis is far less dangerous than alcohol, despite your protestations to the
contrary.
