Cop who stole dope escapes jail
Well, he would, wouldn't he? Try selling some to a plod....
BBC NEWS
Ex-Pc escapes jail over cannabis
A former Metropolitan Police officer who stole cannabis from a police
station has escaped a jail sentence.
Paul Smith, 33, admitted stealing the Class C drug repeatedly while posted
at Holborn police station, central London. He told Southwark Crown Court
he stole the drug for personal use as he was trying to cope with his
father's death and stress at work.
Smith, of Nether Street, Finchley, north London, was given a six-month
jail term suspended for 12 months.
He pleaded guilty to eight counts of stealing cannabis and two of
possessing the drug between last April and January this year.
The married father-of-one resigned from his job after he was caught.
Smith said he initially bought drugs from street traders but decided to
steal from the station for fear of being blackmailed.
He was caught on CCTV surveillance and an invisible dye on a bag of
cannabis identified him.
Recorder Philip Bartle QC told him: "As somebody who was a police officer,
you will know only too well that your behaviour has brought disgrace on
you, your family, your friends and the police force which you obviously
served extremely well in all other respects apart from these offences."
Smith was spared jail as he admitted the offence and had stolen cannabis
for personal use to overcome a personal suffering.
Smith was also ordered to complete 300 hours of unpaid work, would be
subject to a year-long supervision order and told to pay £750 towards
prosecution costs. Story from BBC NEWS:

Smoking anything is silly. Personally I think Cannabis may just have the edge in
overall harm potential, nicotine is not quite as bad for the brain, but no point in
rehearsing that again. If cannabis was as widely and heavily smoked as nicotine
even you might think differently. There were years of denial about the harms of
tobacco by adherents and apologists for it. We see something similar now in respect
of cannabis. Many people find cannabis really difficult to pack in, there is a lot
of denial about that.

Perhaps but there are Vaporisers. As I have mentioned before, the main
reason it is smoked here in the UK is historical, one can just as well eat
it but making cakes leaves hard to dispose of evidence whilst a couple of
roaches can easily be flushed down the bog.

Cannabis has been used for thousands of years longer than tobacco and even
you must admit most of the evidence against it is tainted. I think most here
will know of "problem users" but those people would have problems without
the cannabis and IMNSHO many would be worse off, perhaps even alcoholics.

Again, in the UK cannabis is usually smoked with tobacco. Every so called
"cannabis addict" I have ever met was in reality a tobacco addict.

Why is that?
Is it silly because it's harmful and addictive? There are many harmful
and addicting activities in life. Are they all silly?
Is mountain climbing silly because it's fun, potentially addictive and
potentially harmful?
>Personally I think Cannabis may just have the edge in

A prohibitionist nazi controlfreak like you is probably even deluded
enough to think cannabis may have the edge in overall harm potential
compared to alcohol, even if we exclude harm associated with
prohibition of cannabis rather than cannabis itself.
>but no point in

But then again, perhaps if cannabis was used as widely as tobacco or
alcohol, you might finally regain your ability to make rational
judgements regarding the harm associated with various substances and
the sensible notion that the degree of control imposed by legislation
ought to reflect the associated potential for harm of regulated
substances.

How about your denial of the fact that cannabis prohibition causes
more harm than cannabis itself?
