Except that many of the things you believe to be "commonly known" as true are
in fact not true.

I don't.  I live in the US.  Note one of the newsgroups this is posted to
is a world-wide nesgroup, not a UK newsgroup, and I'm reading this and
responding to it in the non-UK newsgroup.
