The safety issue is that drugs are safer when legal and regulated.

Nonsense ... telling you're wife she's ugly is legal but in no sense
"condoned."

Younger folk in the USA report that the illegal drug cannabis is
easier for them to get than the legal-for-adults drugs beer and
cigarettes.

There would possibly be an increase in DUI ... but I know of no reason
to think that it would be enough of an increase to outweigh the many
benefits of legalizing drugs. Would the reduction in DUI due to an
alcohol ban be large enough to outweigh its harms?

Nonsense ... by no report did America's use of the drug alcohol drop
when that drug was legalized.
