Man arrested in political honours row
LONDON (Reuters) - A 60-year-old man was arrested on Thursday under
the Honours Prevention of Abuses Act, Scotland Yard said.
In a statement, police said he was in custody at a London police
station. They gave no further details.
Scotland Yard has been investigating all political parties in the
country after a row broke out surrounding claims that peerages were
awarded to party donors.
They launched their investigation after several members of parliament
asked them to look into possible breaches of the Honours law dating
from 1925 that forbids selling public honours.
