Asda refuse to print baby snap of son for 21st birthday cake...
because he's naked

It was meant to be a gently embarrassing centrepiece for her son’s
21st birthday celebrations.

But when Gail Jordan asked staff at Asda to print the photograph of
him as a baby onto a cake, she was stunned when they refused - because
it featured his bare bottom.

Claiming that putting the snap - which featured her son David aged
about five months and lying on his front - on the cake would
constitute pornography, they instead insisted on 'censoring' it with a
strategically placed star.

Well, I'd say they succeeded in the 'embarrassing' part at least.

Interesting. Last night I watched a BBC Two programme about a British
woman who spent several weeks living with a tribe in Ecuador. The
tribespeople, men, women and children, generally wore very little
clothing. The men's penises, for example, were in full view 24/7 and
there were many scenes of communal sleeping where the man, wife and
very young infant, all pretty much entirely naked, would be fast
asleep in a huddle in one large hammock. That is their way of life.
There was no hint of abuse. On the contrary, the British woman visitor
and honorary tribesperson slowly realised that these people were far
happier and more contented than we in the West are. They had no sexual
hangups. They had generally excellent, white teeth and all seemed as
fit as fiddles, even the very old. They ate only fresh food from the
jungle - wild boar, plantains and so on.

If these people were transported to Britain as it is right now, the
men would be arrested for going naked and the children would be put
into care by social workers, with the tabloids screaming
"Paedophiles!" in banner headlines.

I know a bloke (we met via usenet) who happens to be a naturist (we met
through a VW group not a naturism group. I would not inflict my pasty body
on anyone's eyes) but gave up because of the hassle he got from going with
his family to naturist sites by people who equate nudity with peedyfiles.
I took a group of youngsters canoeing in the south of France last summer and
the river has several naturist beaches on it. Intially the kids got uptight
(apparently thinking that naked blokes were flashers - curiously not
offended by the women, especially the young fit ones) but by the second day
did not bother at all. One of the boys decided to join in which gave me and
the other instructors some soul searching. I did not want to stop him (IMO
if he was old enough to refuse life saving medical treatment then he was old
enough to understand the implications of taking his shorts off - just so
long as he put a high sun factor on his whitest bits. no way was I going to
provide first aid on that!) but we, technically were still under UK rules
and we would put ourselves at risk of perving accusations so we had to stop
him.
We had a similar problem when a couple of the girls talked about going
topless.
My wife has had similar problems taking youngsters (16-18) skiing abroad
where the saunas are mixed and clothing free. They operate a rota where the
adults go at a different time to the youngsters. This leaves the youngsters
unsupervised in a wooden box with unknown naked adults. Never once had a
problem the issue seems to be with our adults mixing with our youngsters.
Forrin people are acceptable apparently.
Likewise if I take kids swimming I must change seperately (whilst still
being held responsible for their behaviour). I have been DSed (CRB) but I
must leave them in a public changing are where very few of the adults have
been DSed. This apparently makes sense to the PowersThatBe.

With a life expectancy close to 28. Lets not do the whole 'noble savage'
thing, it was nonsense a couple hundred years ago, it is nonsense now.

Don't be ridiculous. The bloke who "wedded" the British woman was 51
and was as fit as a 28-year-old. There were several old crones/blokes
in the tribe who looked ancient, but still healthy.

And what is so healthy about our Western lifestyle, with obesity, ME,
MS, dementia, diabetes, anorexia, bullmia, major cancers, alcoholism,
STIs, strokes, heart attacks, road traffic accidents?

At least we don't suffer from bilharzia (sp), Nile virus, screw worms,
trichosis, cateracts, malaria (the no.1 killer in the world), crocodiles,
venomous snakes, easily treatable injuries resulting from falls etc, sepsis,
water borne parasites, elephantitis etc etc

Mr Swing hi there do say hello to Mr Roundabout.

But we DO suffer from the list I mentioned, while there was no
evidence that the tribe in question, which was numerous, was anything
but healthy. You can tell a lot about a society from how the children
look, and these children all appeared well fed and well cared for.
Maybe you'd like to believe that the BBC hid away all the sick people
suffering from Nile virus etc?

No you posted the travel brochure picture I posted what you see when you get
to the resort (eg half built hotel, no pool, 12 miles from the beach).
My post did not counter your post, your post was accurate, I just made it a
little more complete.
Do lighten up a little, you are being a little on the overly defensive side
I think

You dont get it, do you? Their children did look and appear well fed,
because the sick ones die off pretty quickly.
