Japan Bans British Poultry
Source: Teletext
Japan has suspended imports of poultry from Britain due to the outbreak
of bird flu at three farms in Norfolk.
Tokyo said the temporary ban, which was set up after the outbreaks of
the less serious H7N3 strain, is to prevent the spread of the virus to
domestic fowl.
A total of 35,000 chickens have been slaughtered at a farm in Hockering
and two free range flocks at nearby farms are also set to be culled.
