Bird Flu is Back - Now is the time for the public to wake up to the underlying causes of bird flu
Bird Flu is Back
Posted 13 November 2007

Statement on the latest Avian Influenza outbreak from Animal Aid
Statements of shock and dismay will greet the announcement of another
outbreak of avian influenza – this time in Diss, Norfolk. Now is the
time for the public to wake up to the underlying causes of bird flu
and the whole range of devastating diseases afflicting animal farming.
Still on the news agenda are panic measures relating to foot and
mouth, bluetongue and bovine TB. In the background are continuing
worries about salmonella, E. coli, campylobacter and swine fever. The
common theme? The callous mass production and ‘processing’ of millions
of sentient animals.

It is naive to imagine that we can incarcerate animals inside crowded,
filthy factory farms without them suffering a high level of infectious
diseases. Turkeys are kept, from days after birth, in windowless sheds
– thousands packed together, standing in their own filth. Many will
die during the brief growing cycle, rotting where they fall. These
animals never see the light of day or smell fresh air but are deprived
of everything that makes life tolerable. Disease, broken bones and
heart attacks are commonplace. Incredibly, poultry is still promoted
as a healthy alternative to red meat. The reality is that anyone who
eats the flesh of these unfortunate animals runs the risk of becoming
ill as well.

So you show your true colours - you don't really care about the
animals at all.

It's all about US and the ANIMALS. If we were all veggie we wouldn't
have any of these problems brought on by filthy farming practice.

Just for info... The current outbreak is at a free range farm...

http://www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,1683418,00.html?imw=Y
"The farm, Redgrave Park, is a free-range facility situated near a wetlands
that is a refuge for geese, ducks and other wild birds."

Other free range facilities will probably have to keep their birds indoors
to prevent further spread.

Dumped in a field with no cover or protection from the elements. Fed
poor quality food, drugs etc to enhance growth in a few weeks before
slaughter, which usually results in diseased birds reaching the food
chain before the diseases have a chance to be seen outwardly.

You pays your money..

  Scheese woman!

No, we would just have permanent rotating urine/feces born diseases
since no one would be controlling the wild critters pissing and
shatting on our growing veggies. Or are you
suggesting we take it all indoors?

Brilliant. We could build houses on all that farmland.

Are you familiar with the paradigm in which someone is so up themselves
about something that they want everyone else to agree with them, at all
costs?

There have been a few in recent history, one notable one was known as Herr
Fuhrer of the Third Reich. He was a veggie, too.

Is there anything else you're intolerant of?

Blimey, that makes interesting reading. I knew he ws a screaming nutter, but
a veggie who occasionally eats squab (and I had to look that up) and liver
sausage?

Barking. Glad he lost now.

One thing I found fascinating about Adolf is the fact that he hated smoking,
but used to get people in a room and deliberately make them go without a fag
for a long while to get them disadvantaged. One needs to bear in mind that
smoking was pretty much the norm then.

You wouldn't catch anyone doing anything that underhanded these days, would
you?

If you note I was responding to the troll "Gloria", who is more about
scoring points than actually caring about the animals it is supposed
to be defending.
