We were watching that sex education program on Ch 4 last night where
they showed a birth. What is the injection they give the mother
immediately after? There was clearly a nurse hovering with a needle -
and I have a vague memory of an injection myself but can't remember
what it was.

The program is quite good - a bit shocking and amusing but well worth
watching!

I can't remember exactly what it is, but it's to speed up the placenta 
delivery.

Almost certainly a injection of syntometrine to speed up delivery of
the placenta.

Too true! Had it with both my "babies" and they are 5 and 3 1/2! Its 
something that I don't want again either!!

My babies are 12 and 7 now, but they will always be my babies ;-)
