Any recommendations for DVD recorder
I have SKY+HD and my hard disk is filling up with programs I want to
keep. So a DVD recorder seems best. Any recommendations about the best
one people have found for this? We have a samsung HD TV, though we are
not bothered about having the recordings we want tyo have on DVD being
HD ones.

Many thanks.

Re: Any recommendations for DVD recorder
I did read that when you copy HD programs your Sky box converts them to
standard def anyway.

Not as such. If you've got your DVD recorder hooked up to the standard
definition SCART output then you'll get a standard definition copy. If
you have some kind of high-definition recorder connected to the
component or HDMI outputs (which is of course not necessarily
possible) then you'll get a hi-def copy.

Assuming the original programme is hi-def, obviously.

I recently bought a Sony RDR-HXD790, and have been very happy with it so
far.

FWIW. I have a Panasonic DVD recorder too and I have had no problems with
it at all. So a Panasonic is definitely worth looking at.

Re: Any recommendations for DVD recorder
Thanks for all the comments. I was goind to go ahead and look at
getting a panasonic, given the number of positive comments about it on
here, but, as it happens, the decision was effectively taken out of my
hands. We were given an LG DVD recorder (model LG RHT497H) as a
wedding anniversary gift from a relative who knew we were interested
in getting a DVD recorder. So far, it seems all right.

Well, it is a good place to start. LG make some impressive stuff, they
can shoot above their weight so I hope your recorded serves you well.
