Sky Pace Box Recall
I arranged by phone to get my Pace HD box swopped after being contacted by
Sky and specified I wanted a like-for-like swop ie a Pace for a Pace and on
no circumstances would accept a Thompson box (due to many reports of faults)
which they noted. The installer came today and I asked him if he had brought
a Pace, he said no. So I said I'd have anything except a Thompson. He said
Thompson is all he had got. So I said no thanks. He then said they had got
to take my box away whatever. I pointed out that I owned my box and told him
no thanks. With all the problems known about Thompson boxes, why are they
still giving them out?

Re: Sky Pace Box Recall
I phoned up Sky to have a moan and they said to rebook an appointment and
see if a Pace came next time, and if not keep rebooking till they have a
Pace on board. I said that I didn't want to play "Russian Roulette" forever
and could they just put on the notes to bring a Pace? They said no you just
have to keep trying. So they can say take a box but can't say take a Pace
box, which means you have to hope you get a wise knowlegable installer who
draws only Pace boxes from the stores. Strange customer care.

Lockups galore at least. We groaned and screamed and then got the private
technician who'd installed the better-than-Sky system to say something,
whereby we got a new Sky HD box -- a Samsung. Samsung's are apparently last
in line for the Big Menu Upgrade touted for months. We haven't really had a
complaint since. And the video output card is much, much better.
