Muslims debate 42-day bid
http://www.teletext.co.uk/news/national/789cc331e3b7afba82b147695d7cb2a1/Muslims+debate+42-day+bid.aspx

Faith schools and the 42-day detention limit will be under discussion at
a meeting convened by the Muslim Council of Britain.

About 300 people, including key imams and community leaders, are
expected to attend Sunday's gathering at the London Muslim Centre in
east London.

Parents' concerns that the Muslim faith is not being properly taught in
state schools is likely to be on the agenda.

Though a Christian, I have no objections to children being taught the
tenets of the major world religions in school but if all the major
world religions were taught in detail, there would be little room for
anything else on the school timetable.

If a particular religious group feels that their members' children
need extra tuition in their particular faith, then they should arrange
this outside the normal school hours.

Well I do not think that any form of religion should be "taught" in
schools at all. Discuss them if you wish . That is fine if it helps to
understand them and kids can ,when they have grown up ,have a better
understanding of what they are about and decide for themselves if
religion needs to be a part of their life .

For Islam to be taught properly in state schools, involves teaching that
'Jews and Christians are the sons of apes and pigs'

On what grounds do you claim that teaching Islam properly involves
teaching that?

A wrong assumption, based on poor knowledge of the subject.
(Bearing in mind that many Islamists also (deliberately?) mis-read it.)
Koran says -
[5.60] Say: Shall I inform you of (him who is) worse than this in
retribution from Allah? (Worse is he) whom Allah has cursed and brought His
wrath upon, and of whom He made apes and swine, and he who served the
Shaitan; these are worse in place and more erring from the straight path.

[7.166] Therefore when they revoltingly persisted in what they had been
forbidden, We said to them: Be (as) apes, despised and hated.
