Recognise this location?
Anyone here able to help me solve a frustrating puzzle please? Where
was this photo taken? I know for sure it is in Yorkshire (but not
York). Yet after hours of poring over maps and googling for "copper
spires" etc I'm about to give up. Must be either a city or large town.
And that sure looks like a copper-spired church in the background.

Please read the Charter for this newsgroup.
You have posted to a newsgroup set up by
the government to plug the gaps created by the abysmal
failure of their Psychiatric Care in the Community Policy.
The uk.local hierarchy was devised to provide an outlet for
individuals who would otherwise spending their days sitting
at home wearing an aluminium foil hat waiting for a full moon
to rise. It was hoped that this would reduce the incidence
of nutters out there howling at the moon and frightening the
shit out of their neighbours. Another of HMGs aims and
objectives was to provide a distraction to take their minds
of the problem of who they were going to knife to death next.
Unfortunately, this group has been taken over by the
articulate lower middle classes who have succeeding in
driving HMGs target audience away.Independant research has
shown that it was the amount and quality of the inane drivel,
called small talk which the middle classes are adept at, which
had the effect of doing their heads in. They left to
protect what was left of their sanity. Saddly this has happened
to the whole of uk.local. hierarchy.
This newsgroup is a very good example of another HMG failure.

It was something started in the early days of uly, a fad if you wish, it
wouldn't be relevant to other news groups, to be truthful I've forgotten
what some of the code means and some is certainly out of date.
I suppose it's a homage to the way uly was back when 40 people turned up
in Leeds for a get together.

What a shame that the noticeboards are not in focus. You didn't take
any other pictures thereabouts, I suppose? Was the picture from a
visit or from touring? You don't have an list of places for
elimination, I suppose?

Thanks Nick. Not my photo! Apart from "Not York" I know it's "Not
Newland Ave in Hull", and "Not Otley road in Leeds". I tried guessing
'Grenfell' or 'Grenfells', which I thought might be an estate agent,
but no joy. And many hours googling for "copper spires" and similar
has so far also been unsuccessful. That particular hatching and
colouring on the road seems pretty rare, but so far no luck there
either.

I've gone back to the root of the web URL which seems to be in the US,
had to go out and I'm now a bit worse for an afternoon at the club
drinking, I'll try tomorrow when the alcohol has worn off :-)

Sorted thanks. It was taken in Thorne Road, Doncaster looking south
west.
